Show today's brain activity

Today I went to Paris.

This trip was possibly not what you are imagining. There was no strolling down the Champs-Élysées, or sipping champagne under the Eiffel Tower, or even having a good old camembert baguette beside the Seine. This was 12+ hours in a car and a 1.5 hour meeting.

It was a stressful day – travel has a way of zapping your energy and making you feel a bit ‘average’. But I did manage to get in quite a bit of meditation.

The 15 minutes I did on the way to Paris was really nice. It was difficult to find the mental clarity and space because I was in a car with three work mates, but I still managed to find a very small amount of calm.

On the way back to Amsterdam I started using The Joy of Being by the Life Flow Meditation Centre. It talks about ‘spot meditations’. These are really short meditations (20-30 seconds)  that you can use at any time, but especially in the heat of the moment, to calm your mind and be able to see clearly what is actually happening. This sounds easier said than done but I am keen to try this over the next few days.

I didn’t make any specific progress today, or have any breakthrough but it did show me that if you want to meditate, you will find the time.

Meditation

I tried 1 Giant Mind for the first time today and liked it. The only problem I had was when your phone goes to sleep, it stops playing, so you will either need to adjust your phone settings to keep the screen awake, or keep a finger on the screen so it doesn’t sleep.

I also started using Life Flow Meditation Centre and Ross Edwards – The Joy of Being. So far so good.
