Raw Food Stockholm Syndrome?

Anything Interesting Happen?

I have two days (TWO DAYS!) to go so I’m starting to think about what my diet will look like from Saturday (my first non-raw day).

But, the odd thing is I’m getting a little bit scared about coming off raw. Is this a bizarre raw food version of Stockholm syndrome?

To keep things simple, I’m just thinking about Saturday morning breaky for now. Options are:

1. Green smoothie. And only slowly transition off raw food if and when I feel like it
2. Eat what I would normally eat pre 28 Days of Me, which would probably mean two poached eggs on spelt toast, fresh orange juice and a cup of English breaky tea :-) (finally!)
3. GO AND SMASH A MACCAS BURGER

Although eating a greasy, over-processed burger sounds kinda fun, I am also 99% sure that it will make me feel sick and I’m not convinced I want to spend my Saturday feeling that rotten.

What if I actually stayed raw? I really do feel pretty good, I’ve passed the initial hump of nausea, weird blood sugar levels, and adjusting to not ever really feeling full so I feels like it makes sense to keep going, right? But, on the other hand it would be great to have a cup of tea, to eat a mashed potato or have a cracker (strewth – I’d love a cracker!)

Decisions hey. I can honestly say I didn’t think I would at all be contemplating staying (even a percentage raw), so this is new territory for me. I haven’t made a decision yet, but I’ll definitely keep ya posted…

Breakfast:
— Green smoothie: pear, orange, apple, ginger, mint, spinach, wheatgrass
— Hot water with lemon

— Macadamia monster mash (how can you go wrong when the name of the dish has ‘monster’ in it!!) with zucchini fettuccine (recipe below)

Snacks:
— Handful of nuts

How Are You Feeling?

This morning I was a little euphoric. After lunch I felt little bit nauseous. And after dinner I had a pretty intense belly ache. I had lots of fats today (nuts, avocado and oils) so I think that’s why my belly wants to explode right now. Even after 26 days on this diet I’m still making rookie mistakes ;-)

Five-pepper vegetable chilli is the same dish my friend Jamie made last week – it was so good I had to try it myself. I preferred Jamie’s – mine had a little bit too much sauce and too little walnut meat…but it was still delicious! And fun serving them in lettuce cups with guacamole and alfalfa sprouts.

To carry on from my post yesterday about getting real about raw, this is an interesting site that talks about potential issues with transitioning onto a raw food diet (detox symptoms, trouble sleeping, feeling weak or fatigued etc)
