Anything Interesting Happen?

I wasn’t feeling that great when I went to bed last night. Funny enough, I read an email this morning from a new raw friend who warned me about ‘combination abomination’ –  this is what she calls doing something  (like a raw potluck dinner) that involves eating a bit of everything – the combination of all the nuts, oils and fruit can be a bit of a shock for your stomach. What a rookie – day 1 and I already fell into a raw food trap – I’ve got a lot to learn ;-)

I woke up early for a Sunday (7:30am) I felt tired but energised – which is an extremely frustrating feeling. I’m also craving something low GI – something filling that isn’t so sweet. I waited a bit before I ate even though I was hungry – I really couldn’t put any fruit or veg in my stomach just yet.  I had a few hot waters with lime and eventually I had a raw cocoa and banana smoothie and it sorted me right out – tasted amazing and made me feel LOADS better.

I did 45 minutes of pilates / strength work. My motivation to exercise is really low for me – it was a big effort.

Lunch was a salad with sun-dried tomato dressing. Tasty and fairly filling.

Dinner was really yummy zuchinni spaghetti with pesto. Recipe below.

I’ve realised I have a fear of being hungry on this diet ‘oh shit, I’m getting hungry – what am I going to eat?!’. Which is a bit silly as there are actually loads of things I can eat – I think it will just take a bit of adjusting to get used to the fact I can’t just grab a cracker every time I’m feeling a bit low in energy or feel like I need to put something in my belly. Favourite conversation of the day was with the guy from the health food store – talking to him about raw he said ‘Oh yeah, I was raw once, back in the 80s when it was cool’ Ha, awesome, I’m only 20 years + behind the trend! ;-)

What Did You Eat?

Breakfast :
— Raw cocao smoothie: almond milk, banana, 1 tsp cacao, desiccated (or designated as my mate Randy likes to call it) coconut
— warm water with lime

Lunch:
— Salad with sun-dried tomato dressing: lettuce, tomato, radish, capsicum, raw pecans. Dressing: sun-dried tomatoes, olive oil, lemon, salt pepper, fresh basil, handful of walnuts. (smash it all up in the blender)

Dinner:
— Zucchini ‘spaghetti’ with pesto.Raw zucchini spaghetti 28daysofme Snacks — green grapes, apple with cashew nut butter, almond milk with cacao.

How Are You Feeling?

Generally pretty good. I feel energised and positive. I actually feel like I’ve got too much energy for this time of night. I love sleep – anywhere between 9 and 10 hours is good for me so I should technically be more tired than I am considering Ive only got around 7 for the past two nights. I managed to eat less dense (high sugar and fat) food today and I think it helped a lot. I’d love a cup of tea right about now – huuumm, warm English breaky tea, with milk. Guess not…

Recipes And Facts

Raw zucchini spaghetti with pesto:
My friend Jo introduced me to this recipe – so easy and really yum! Peel 1 large zucchini with a julienne peeler (pic below) Blend basil, olive oil, walnuts, 2 cloves of garlic, lemon juice, nutritional yeast, salt and pepper in a blender. Add pesto to zucchini and serve :-) 28daysofme Cacao powder:
